Terms of use
Effective October 20, 2026
Plain-English summary: Work Worry-Free helps you understand and keep track of Social Security's work rules. It gives estimates, not decisions. You're still responsible for what you enter and for reporting to Social Security. If we ever disagree, we'll try to fix it together first. If we can't, it goes to individual arbitration or small claims court, not a class action (you can opt out, see section 16).
1. Who we are
These terms are an agreement between you and Blue Ridge Labs LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company doing business as Work Worry-Free ("we", "us"). They cover the Work Worry-Free app, this website, and any related services (together, "the service"). By creating an account, starting a plan, or using the service, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
You must be 18 or older to use the service yourself. A parent, guardian, representative payee or other helper may use it to keep records for someone else, including a child, if they are allowed to.
2. We are not Social Security
Work Worry-Free is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Social Security Administration or any government agency. We can't see your Social Security records, we can't report to Social Security for you, and nothing we say binds Social Security.
3. Estimates, not advice
- The service applies Social Security's published rules and amounts to the information you enter. Its results are estimates. Social Security makes all final decisions.
- Some rules are complex or depend on facts the app doesn't have, like subsidies, averaging of uneven pay, special conditions, state supplements, or self-employment tests. The app tells you when a result may be less certain.
- Nothing in the service is legal, financial, tax or benefits advice, and using it doesn't create an attorney-client or advisor relationship. For personal advice, contact a free benefits counselor (WIPA, 1-866-968-7842) or a lawyer.
- We don't promise any result. Using the service doesn't guarantee that Social Security will agree with an estimate, that you won't receive an overpayment notice, or that your benefits won't change.
4. Your responsibilities
- Enter accurate, complete information, and correct it when you find a mistake. When you set up the app, you confirm that you understand this, and the app records when you did.
- Report your work and pay to Social Security as they require. The app reminds you and shows you how, but reporting is up to you.
- Keep your original pay stubs and Social Security letters, or copies. Photos saved in the app are a convenience, not a replacement. A phone can be lost, and photos can be deleted.
- Keep your phone, email and sign-in codes secure. You're responsible for activity in your account.
- Only add someone else's information if you're allowed to help them (for example, as their parent, guardian or payee, or with their permission).
5. Plans, free trials and billing
- There is a free version. Paid plans are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions through the Apple App Store or Google Play, which handle the payment.
- Before you buy, the app and the store show the price, how often you'll be charged, when the first charge happens, and how to cancel. You agree to those terms when you confirm the purchase in the store.
- Free trials are for new subscribers, as your store decides. If a plan comes with a free trial, it turns into a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. If notifications are on, we remind you 2 days before the end, and the app shows how many days are left.
- Renewal: subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly as you chose, at the price shown, until you cancel. The store charges your account within 24 hours before each new period.
- Cancelling is as easy as signing up: in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings (the app links you there from Me → My plan). You keep access until the end of the period you paid for. No calls or emails needed.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We can't issue refunds for purchases made through them, but we'll help you ask.
- Price changes: we'll tell you in the app before a new price affects you, and the store will ask for your consent where its rules require. You can cancel before the change takes effect.
- We may change what each plan includes. If we remove a main feature from a plan you've paid for, you can cancel and ask the store for a refund for the unused time.
6. Tell a friend
You can share the app with a personal code. There are no referral rewards right now. If we offer them later, the rules will be shown in the app before they apply. Codes are for personal sharing only: no spam, no paid ads, no posting them on coupon sites, and no making fake accounts. Any reward has no cash value, and we can cancel rewards earned by breaking these rules.
7. Sharing with helpers
If you share a person's records with a helper, that helper can see and change them, and their changes are recorded in the record history. You can stop sharing at any time. You're responsible for who you share with.
8. Your information and content
Your records belong to you. You give us permission to store, copy and process them only to run the service for you (for example, to back them up, sync them to your helpers, and make your proof packet). Our privacy policy explains how we handle information. You can export your records or delete your account at any time.
8a. License and ownership
We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app on devices you own or control, as allowed by the store's usage rules, and to use this website. The service, its software, design, text and the Work Worry-Free name and logo belong to Blue Ridge Labs LLC. Your records belong to you. You also agree to follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app (like your wireless data plan).
9. Record history and the proof packet
- Record history. Every time a paycheck, report, letter, savings amount or benefit detail is added, changed or deleted, the app writes down what changed, when, and which phone did it. You can correct your records at any time; the history keeps both the old and new values, so the record stays honest. With cloud backup on, a copy goes to an add-only server log: neither the app nor its users can change or remove an entry after the server receives it, except when the person is removed from backup or the account is deleted. Each entry is stamped with the server's clock.
- The proof packet is your own record, made from what you entered and the photos you saved. We don't check it against your employer or Social Security, and we don't certify it. It shows when each entry was made and changed. It can't prove that an amount was right.
- If there's a dispute about the service's records, including a claim that the service changed your numbers, you agree that the record history and server log may be used as evidence of what was entered and when. We will only look at them as our privacy policy allows.
10. Acceptable use
Please don't misuse the service. Don't:
- try to break its security, overload it, or get into other people's records without permission;
- enter pay, reports or letters you know are false, or save altered or made-up pay stubs or documents;
- change the service's data, record history or proof packet outside the service, or present a changed packet as the service's;
- use the service to deceive anyone, including Social Security, an employer or a court;
- copy, resell, or reverse-engineer the service, or use it to build a competing product.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Giving false information to Social Security is against federal law.
11. Availability and changes to the service
We work hard to keep the service accurate and available, but we can't promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. Social Security's rules and amounts change, and we update the service when they do. We may add, change or remove features. Most features work on your phone even without an internet connection.
12. Third-party services
The service relies on others: Apple and Google (app stores and payments), RevenueCat (tracking subscriptions), Railway (hosting and storage), Resend (sign-in code emails), and Anthropic (reading pay stub photos when you choose to scan). Links to Social Security and other websites are for your convenience; we're not responsible for their content.
13. No warranty
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T WARRANT THAT RESULTS WILL BE CORRECT FOR YOUR SITUATION OR THAT SOCIAL SECURITY WILL REACH THE SAME RESULT.
14. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We aren't responsible for decisions made by Social Security, including overpayments, benefit changes, suspensions, terminations or collection.
- We aren't responsible for losses caused by information that was entered incorrectly or left out, by reports you didn't make or made late, or by records changed or deleted by you or by someone you shared access with.
- Neither we nor our members, managers, employees or suppliers are liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, even if we were told they were possible.
- Our total liability for all claims related to the service, including any claim for lost or reduced benefits, is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $100.
Some places don't allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud or intentional misconduct. If you live in New Jersey, sections 13 and 14 apply only to the extent New Jersey law allows.
15. Claims caused by misuse
If you break section 10 or misuse the service in another way, and that leads to a claim against us by someone else, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, including reasonable attorney's fees, to the extent the law allows.
16. Resolving disagreements
Talk to us first. If you have a problem, email hello@workworryfree.com with your name, how to reach you, and what you'd like us to do. Most problems can be fixed quickly. Neither of us will start a formal case until 60 days after the other receives that notice, and any deadline to bring a claim is paused during those 60 days.
Individual arbitration. If we can't resolve it, you and we agree that any dispute about the service or these terms will be decided by binding arbitration on an individual basis, administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, instead of in court. The arbitration can be done by video, phone or written submissions, or in the county where you live. We will pay the AAA filing, administration and arbitrator fees beyond the amount you would pay to file in court, unless the arbitrator finds your claim was frivolous. The arbitrator can give you the same individual relief a court could, and decides questions about whether a dispute must be arbitrated. If 25 or more similar claims are filed by the same or coordinated lawyers, the AAA's Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules apply.
Exceptions. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead, as long as it stays there. Either of us may ask a court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property.
No class actions. You and we agree to bring claims only on an individual basis, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative action, and the arbitrator may not combine claims of more than one person. If this class waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim goes to court, not arbitration. A request for public injunctive relief will be decided by a court after any individual claims are arbitrated.
Opting out. You can opt out of this section 16 within 30 days of first agreeing to these terms by emailing hello@workworryfree.com with the subject "Arbitration opt-out" and your account email. Opting out doesn't affect anything else in these terms.
Governing law and courts. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee and the Federal Arbitration Act, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of the state you live in requires otherwise. Any claim that isn't arbitrated will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, unless your local law gives you the right to bring it where you live.
17. App Store and Google Play
If you got the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. Apple and Google aren't responsible for the app, its content, maintenance or support, or any claims about it (for example, product liability, legal or regulatory claims, or intellectual property claims). If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you're not in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and not on any U.S. government list of prohibited parties. The store's own usage rules also apply.
18. Ending
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time (Me → Sign-in & security → Delete my account). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we stop offering the service; if we stop offering it, we'll give you reasonable notice so you can export your records. Sections 3, 8a, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 19 continue after these terms end.
19. Changes to these terms, and general
We may update these terms. Before an important change takes effect, we'll tell you at least 14 days ahead, in the app or by email when we have it, and the date at the top will change. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can stop using it and delete your account. Changes to section 16 won't apply to any claim that arose before the change takes effect.
If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part right away, we haven't given up the right to. You may not transfer these terms; we may transfer them to a business that takes over the service, with notice to you. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about the service.
